James C. Farmer Alumni Scholarship
The James C. Farmer Alumni Fund for Leadership and Scholars was established by the ISU Alumni Association in 1966 to recognize the leadership and service provided by James C. Farmer as Director of ISU Alumni Relations from 1954 to 1966. The proceeds from the investment of funds are to be used to provide an annual award and recognition to students exhibiting leadership as determined by the Alumni Association.
The recipient must meet one of the following criteria: (a) The President of the Indiana State University Student Alumni Association, (b) the member of the Indiana State University Student Alumni Association who, by vote of the active members of the Indiana State University Student Alumni Association, has contributed most toward helping establish among students a feeling of life-long commitment to service for Indiana State University, © entering freshmen who would be eligible under criteria established by Alumni Council and who would be known as James C. Farmer Scholars, or (d) the President of the Student Philanthropy Organization. If, at any time in the future, the Student Alumni Association should cease to be a functioning organization, or if there would be a more appropriate occasion for the presentation of the award, the ISU Alumni Association shall determine the procedures which would best fulfill the intent and purpose as intended at the time the award was established.
