Art Scholarship Competition

Qualified high-school students already accepted to ISU must possess: at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA; have completed a Core 40 or other college-preparatory high school diploma; and have declared a major in Art and Design.

Up to 8 Creative & Performing Arts Awards: between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, and renewable for 4 years will be awarded. The primary criterion for the Creative & Performing Arts Award is the student’s potential for contributing to the quality of the arts at ISU. A student must enroll as an Art and Design major. The award is forfeited if the student changes his/her major.

  1. Please upload either a digital portfolio or a research paper.
    • Upload a digital portfolio. Requirements: This portfolio must contain 8-12 works and should be compiled in a single PowerPoint file with one artwork per slide. Each slide should have a caption that includes the artist's name, title, year made, medium, and dimensions (height x width x depth).
    • Upload a research paper. Requirements: a 1000-1500 word article or research paper pertaining to a visual arts subject may be submitted by students interested in becoming art history majors. Three articles or books should be used. Cite the most recent sources possible and limit your use of encyclopedias to just one. The paper is to be 1000-1500 words in length and should focus on a particular artwork, an exhibition, or an artistic process. The paper must have one-inch margins and must be typed and double-spaced. Captioned illustrations or photographs of works discussed should accompany this paper. *Preferred document type is a Word Document*
